Protection Mainstreaming

Fully booked

Protection mainstreaming is the process of incorporating protection principles in all humanitarian programming. Its aim is to prioritize safety, dignity, meaningful access, accountability, participation and empowerment in the design, implementation and assessment of humanitarian response. Protection needs and capacities to cope with situations are specific to vulnerable groups and context. Various protection standards exist to inform how these needs and capacities can be addressed and supported. Nevertheless, humanitarian NGOs still face challenges to equally integrate existing protection standards in their humanitarian programmes. This two-day training aligns with the Global Protection Cluster’s understanding of protection mainstreaming and aims to engage you in discussions and learning around the definitions and principles of protection and protection mainstreaming. It will cover different practical components of mainstreaming protection in humanitarian programming. It will not cover protection of humanitarian staff or protection of civilians in terms of security-related topics.

The training is planned as a face-to-face event in Berlin on 21 and 22 June 2022. The sessions include regular breaks.
